Club Ryde

Mixed-use affordable housing development

Creating a new community precinct

Club Ryde sets a new benchmark of residential design for the Ryde, as it evolves as part of Sydney’s Global Economic Corridor. It integrates five residential buildings above a articulated multi-level podium within a prominent ridgeline precinct at the southern edge of the Ryde Town Centre. The design demonstrates how density, when shaped by strong urban design and placemaking, can deliver memorable, engaging, and resilient environments.

Located at the busy intersection of Victoria Road and Devlin Street, the project activates the ground plane with a renewed registered club and residential entries along the podium's perimeter, encouraging continuous pedestrian engagement and civic life. A newly created north-south pedestrian through-site link weaves through the precinct, supported by extensive green infrastructure covering 84% of the site area.

Above street level, the podium and lower-scale pavilion forms mediate the height transition down to Eagle Street. Rising from this urban base, a pair of slender 25 storey mirrored towers establishes a defined metropolitan urban marker while maintaining a 24m–38m separation to preserve key visual corridors toward the Parramatta River and open sky views across the plateau.

The architecture is characterised by a continuous bronze-toned "net" screen wrapping the tower forms, offering solar control and a distinct identity in the skyline. Angled building footprints enhance microclimate performance and capture natural light, while durable concrete elements and customized metal sunhoods ground the structures at a human scale.

Club Ryde balances high-density housing and affordable living options with community facilities, creating an integrated destination at a key northern gateway in Sydney.

“The design intent was to create an enduring architectural marker for Ryde that is authentic, balanced, and profoundly connected to its surrounding landscape. That sense of permanence, visual clarity, and public connection guided every decision.”
